Cooperation Agreement between the North Adriatic Ports Association and the Region of Carinthia signed.
On Thursday, November 24th, 2011 the cooperation between key-players along the Baltic-Adriatic Axis was continued as in Klagenfurt representatives of the North Adriatic Port Association, the Regional Government of Carinthia and the Development Agency of Carinthia signed an Cooperation Agreement focusing on the improvement of the connection of the NAPA ports to the regions along the Baltic-Adriatic Axis and the Corridor X considering the further development of Villach/Fürnitz as an important logistics location based at the intersection of these two railway axes.
The Regional Government of Carinthia represented by the head of the department for economic law and infrastructure Mr. Albert Kreiner and the Development Agency of Carinthia represented by the Managing Director Ms. Sabrina Schütz-Oberländer declared their strong will to implement the Premium-Dry-Port concept in Villach/Fürnitz as laid down in the Cooperation Agreement.
NAPA Vice-President Mr. Bojan Hlaca, Port Authority of Rijeka, stated that Villach-Fürnitz has the potential to play a major role in the handling of the increasing transport volumes reaching the North Adriatic Ports. This statement was reinforced by the attending representatives of the Port Authorities of Koper, Trieste and Venice.
Besides discussions referring to future cooperation, representatives of the NAPA ports gave presentations on the investments planned to be made within the next years in order to establish the North Adriatic as a multi modal gateway region.
