Construction
There has been a huge amount of construction going on along the TEN Axis 23 (Baltic - Adriatic Corridor) in recent years:
In Poland, the central line Gdansk - Mazowiecki - Zawierci is being rebuilt between Warsaw and Katowice. Speeds of up to 160 km/h are already possible (on completion of the project: 250km/h).
In the Czech Republic, work is ongoing on the line between Petrovice and Breclav to achieve maximum speeds of 160km/h.
In Slovakia, the upgrade of the existing track from Bratislava towards Zelina is progressing speedily. The electrification of the whole line in the cross- border area between Katowice and Zilina has already been completed.
In Austria, two key projects along the corridor are currently under construction: the new central station for Vienna and the Koralmbahn line.
